A comparative study of real estate vocabulary between the Mainland and Hong Kong = 中港兩地房地產詞滙比較研究

Abstract

In the contemporary era, the rise of real estate between Mainland China and Hong Kong has brought forth a large increase of vocabulary items about this area, in just a few decades. The author collected approximate five hundred comparable vocabulary items between China-Hong Kong. Moreover, I have conducted a diversified research about the changes in the cultural differences and diversities caused by these changes. From this I attempted to investigate and analyze the similarities and differences of the vocabulary items and their characteristics. I also compared the land resources, the process of urbanization and the specific structure of the real estate industry and its formation, together with background history, the land system and differences of economic developments. All of these reveals the origins of the real estate and business management differences, as a whole.
