AbstractThe research aims to familiarize the enforcement of Fire Safety (buildings) Ordinance, Chapter 572, discuss the difficulties of comply of Fire Safety Direction and how to overcome them in ageing composite buildings and residential buildings with case study. The background information which closely related to the research would be mentioned in the beginning of the research. The importance of Fire Safety and how other countries conduct fire safety would be elaborated afterward. The development of fire safety in Hong Kong including the enactment of fire safety ordinance also involved in the research. Focus interviews with invited parties and an unnamed survey in selected buildings of the research would be conducted for deeper study of existing situation. The collected information in interviews and survey would be expressed in various ways. The recommendation would be highlighted in the summary of the research.
