AbstractWith the economic restructuring and the rapid development of social economy, the industrial cities in China has experienced vigorous development from industrialization to the final decline, and the industrial industry has gradually withdrawn from the stage of historical development. The relocation of a large number of factories left a lot of industrial heritage buildings and sites for the society. Due to its significant historical value and reuse potential, the protection and reuse of industrial heritage has gradually attracted people's attention and become an urgent problem in urban construction. Western developed countries have relatively mature experience in this aspect, but China's attention to industrial heritage started late and deserves further attention. This dissertation takes Hanyangzao Art District, which is located in the industrial belt of Guibei District, as an example. It has played an important role in the history of industrial development in Wuhan. At present, it has been transformed into an art park for the development of cultural industry by the government. This dissertation expounds the formation and historical background of the industry, analyzes its historical value, architectural value and social value, and clarifies its significance to social development. After understanding the significance of the heritage, a SWOT analysis is carried out on the current operation of Hanyangzao Art District from the aspects of economic, environmental and social, based on information such as the government and social institutions' investment in the policy and capital of the industrial park. With this analysis, a comparison of the operation situation of the art district can be made between when it was first established and ten years after its establishment. Through analyzing the problems in the operation of Hanyangzao Art District, the research provides corresponding suggestions for the architectural protection, interposition and overall management, and strives to achieve the overall sustainable development.
