AbstractA significant deal of research has been conducted to shed light on the development of FinTech in Hong Kong. Nevertheless, not much investigation has been placed into what is driving the growth of FinTech in the financial center. A conceptual framework has been applied to analyze the interaction of the State, Market and Society in shaping the FinTech industry in Hong Kong. Spatial analysis has been conducted on the institutional and organizational factors. The empirical findings suggest that Tech giants and incumbent financial institutions from Mainland China lead the FinTech sector in Hong Kong. Moreover, the spatial transformation of the core in the financial center has been occurred. A State, market and Society model is framed to explain the cooperation and competition between the institutional factors in developing the FinTech industry. Therefore, regional integration in the Greater Bay area should be processed through digital currency union to amplify the economic development in the region and further in the country.
