AbstractThree articles in Nature show that intestinal stem cells with cancer-promoting mutations could shape the surrounding normal tissue in their favor to promote clonal fixation and field expansion, raising the possibility of developing therapeutic strategies that maintain or enhance the health of normal cells to out-compete the mutant cells.
