AbstractBACKGROUND: Computer-assisted surgery (CAS) is increasingly used in mandibular reconstruction, but the lack of a standard measurement system for spatial deviations hinders the postoperative verification and comparison of different studies. The aim of this study is to set up the universal and versatile measurements for spatial deviations of computer-assisted mandibular reconstruction. METHODS: A systematic review was conducted to investigate the measurements used in computer-assisted mandibular reconstruction. Based on that, the eligible measurements were summarized and organized according to different anatomical structures and landmarks. RESULTS: From 80 studies included in the study, we analyzed and organized a total of 31 measurements. We established a panel of anatomical landmarks to facilitate measurement, including parts, points, lines, planes and angles. A practical approach was developed to facilitate the measurements by a corresponding calculation spreadsheet with inbuilt formulas. CONCLUSIONS: We established the anatomical landmarks and the universal and versatile measurements for spatial deviations of computer-assisted mandibular reconstruction. Based on these findings, we developed a practical approach to guide how to use these measurements effectively with a calculation spreadsheet. We hope that future studies will use these measurements to develop a more effective and scientific evaluation standard for mandibular reconstruction after tumor resection.
