Abstract1. Liver-specific expression of trimeric adiponectin can cross the blood-brain barrier. 2. Overexpression of trimeric adiponectin can improve memory function. 3. Overexpression of trimer adiponectin enhances neuronal insulin sensitivity and reduces amyloid-β deposition. 4. Adiponectin suppresses Aβ-induced microglia activation and neuroinflammatory responses, exerting protective effects to neurons and synapses in an Alzheimer disease mouse model. 5. Adiponectin deficiency exacerbates microglia-mediated neuroinflammation in an Alzheimer disease mouse model.
