AbstractThis research seeks to explore the impact of Internet social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Telegram on Hong Kong youth’s cannabis use in the contemporary situation. We have examined articles, journals and books related to this topic. Likewise, we also interviewed some young cannabis users in order to examine the factors contributing the impact of online social networking platforms Through examining their drug taking experiences one by one to ascertain and understand any social relations such as peers and relatives, we explore their addiction to cannabis and related activities with reference to the possible connection and influences with the online social network interactions. At the end of our research, we establish the facts that social network is a crucial factor to reinforce other elements such as influences possibly from friends, families, triad affiliates, emotional stability and availability of cannabis giving rise to the impacts on youth’s cannabis use in Hong Kong.
