AbstractAlthough there have been all the time different voices concerning the identity of F. A. Nixon’s Nestorian Crosses, the mainstream voice keeps quite consistent since the early stage of 20 century, when these crosses firstly came to scholars’ attention. Grandly accepted idea is that these crosses are from Mongolian Nestorians who lived in the Ordos region since Yuan dynasty. This idea mainly derives from the noticing of the abundant cruciform and bird shape designs among the collection, and also from the studying of the historical records of the Mongolian Nestorians.
