AbstractWe characterized a strain of Laribacter hongkongensis isolated from the blood of a patient with fatal sepsis, who had alcoholic cirrhosis with ascites and portal hypertension. L. hongkongensis bacteremia is associated with underlying liver diseases (P < 0.001) and mortality (P < 0.05), whereas L. hongkongensis gastroenteritis is associated with recent travel history (P < 0.05).
