© 2018 British Journal of Anaesthesia The authors regret that an error is present on page 2, line 1 of the above article. Dexmedetomidine is incorrectly stated to be an α2 antagonist. The sentence should read as follows: Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective α2 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts on the locus ceruleus1 to produce dose dependent sedation with no respiratory depression and only modest haemodynamic effects.2,3 The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
