AbstractTo help address the various challenges facing the implementation of generic competencies development into higher education, this poster will explore the perceptions of engineering undergraduates and teachers towards generic competencies development in their curriculum. Drawing on both quantitative and qualitative data, it will also discuss the current situation of competencies development in engineering education (e.g. students’ motivations and teachers’ perceptions of their students competencies), as well as preferences towards and the potential of various learning activities for generic competencies development. It is hoped that the findings will provide insight for reconsidering current practices and curriculum design.
