Rehabilitation Staff Scheduling in Senior Daytime Care Facility Considering Difference in Staff Perception of Workloads

Abstract

Demands of senior daytime care facility is increased in Japan as increasing for number of elderly people. In this situation, it is required that the facility operate with limited human resources which is having a problem of heaviness workloads such as physical and mental elements. Additionally, as the one of the differences between the facility service and factory task, the perception of workloads differs among staff members and services since the service is provided from human to human. Therefore, a staff schedule considering staff perception of workloads is required in senior daytime care facility. This study proposes a rehabilitation staff scheduling model in a senior daytime care facility considering individual difference in staff perception of physical and mental workloads and produces the balancing schedule for both workload based on previous workloads survey. In addition, the impact of considering individual difference in staff perception of workloads into producing a staff schedule are discussed by comparing proposed schedule with current and previous schedule.
