Abstract | A 2012 TDG supported the development of the first year of a new 3-year curriculum initiative called the ‘Professionalism in Practice’ (PIP) programme. This initiative introduced the early experiential learning of professionalism to medical students in the 6-year MBBS programme through repeated attachment with family doctor preceptors in the community. Its aim was to increase students’ awareness and understanding of medical professionalism.
