AbstractTranscranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive intervention used to stimulate the brain. It is considered an alternative for the improvement of cognition in older patients with cognitive impairment. Systematic reviews and metaanalyses have shown repetitive TMS to have great potential as a safe and well-tolerated alternative intervention for cognition. Further research on the mechanism, the optimal parameters and settings of repetitive TMS and the effects of concurrent cognitive training or medications is important for the development of this new intervention in clinical practice.
