AbstractB-W-C composites consisting of B4C, WC, W2B5and C phases were fabricated by controlled reaction hot processing of a mixture of B4C and WC powder. The relative density, flexure strength and fracture toughness increased with increasing WC content and sintering temperature. The multi-layered phases were identified to be a mixture of W2B5and carbon.
