Abstract | Introduction:
This article presents how the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is used to support clinical research, practice, and education in Hong Kong. It is divided into the following sections: (a) historical information about speech therapy services in Hong Kong, (b) ICF-based measuring tools developed in Hong Kong, (c) illustrative examples of how the ICF is used to guide clinical practice in Hong Kong, (d) clinical education for speech therapy training in Hong Kong, and (e) agenda for future directions to optimize implementation of the ICF in a Hong Kong context.
Conclusion:
It is hopeful that the global efforts by researchers and clinicians will further promote the use of the ICF, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. |
