AbstractPopulation aging is not only a topic of academic interest and policy relevance, but also a demographic phenomenon which already has and will have significant social and economic impacts. Ageing in place and continuum of care are important policy goals as well as key means to tackle problems caused by population ageing. This work studies the level of conduciveness of the existing public housing stock to ageing in place and continuum of care., and seeks to contribute to achievement of ageing in place and continuum of care in future re-developed public housing estates by providing guidance, supporting information and recommendations. Questionnaire survey and structured interview were carried out. The data shows inadequacy of facilities and services at least within the housing estate and district. It is also demonstrated that needs and expectation are concentrated at the level of housing estate. Recommendations are made on the basis of these findings.
