| Abstract | 清同治以後的近代都市善堂與盛清的育嬰普濟堂有不同的成立背景與社會任務。它們不再純粹是皇朝恩典的示範櫥窗，而必須承擔平撫日益嚴重的社會失秩與匱乏問題的責任。傳統士紳的角色漸由財力較雄厚的商團取代，施善的內容也從扶幼養老發展到醫療與教育。更重要的是不同宗教信仰在慈善領域的投入更直接與重要，這些發展處處顯示晚清至民國時期，不同政治勢力在地方社會角力的白熱化。此時期的廣州善堂正好說明這段關鍵性的歷史變化。 |
