| Abstract | In endodontics, antiseptics are a subject of great concern for the dentist as the objective of root canal treatment is elimination of microbiota and their spores, removal of necrotic and infected pulp tissue remnants and the sealing of disinfected root canals. To achieve this goal, several antiseptics are used in endodontics namely sodium hypochlorite, calcium hydroxide, chlorhexidine, phenolic compounds, quaternary ammonium compounds in addition to other antimicrobial agents. This articles highlights several antiseptics which are of major importance in endodontics. |
