AbstractThere are a variety of factors that a user may consider before deciding to accept a technology or not. Among them, the paper argues that the cultural dimensions at individual level should play a key role. In the context of the Hofstede’s cultural model, it is believed that the uncertainty avoidance, masculinity, individualism, and Confucian dynamism (long-term orientation) are particularly salient in shaping a user’s technology acceptance decision. This paper discusses about how each of the above cultural dimensions may translate into some determining factors for accepting a technology or not and further concludes that technology acceptance at individual level should take the influences of cultural dimensions into account as far as possible.
