AbstractBlue organic light-emitting devices using dimeric trimeric phenylenvinylene (TPV) derivatives 2,5,2′,5′-tetrastyryl-biphenyl (TSB) and 2,5,2′,5′-tetrakis(4′-biphenylenevinyl)-biphenyl (TBVB) containing a biphenyl centre are fabricated. The structures of these devices are simple, with tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminium and N′,N′- diphenyl-N,N′-bis(1-naphthyl)-(1,1′-biphenyl)-4,4′-diamine being used as electron-transporting and hole-transporting layers, respectively, and TSB or TBVB as light-emitting layer in different devices. The peaks of electroluminescent spectra of devices with TSB and TBVB are at 464 and 468 nm, respectively.
