AbstractThird Culture theory and research (Graen & Wakabayashi, 1994) is offered as a prescription for the failed two-culture strategy employed by Japanese operations in the United States and by foreign companies in the People's Republic of China. Implications of developing such Third Culture ways of doing things in foreign operations are discussed.
