A study of Huang Biyun's language usage in fictional writings = Huang Biyun xiao shuo yu yan yan jiu

Abstract

Huang Biyun is one of the most important authors in Hong Kong. She started writing fictions in the early 80’s. With the violent and bloody of language usage, her fictions received many critics from the both sides. This dissertation aims at showing the different language usages in Huang’s fictions, in order to find out the mysteries of her works.

This dissertation is divided into six chapters. Chapter one introduces the literature background of Huang Biyun, the definition of Fictional Language, and the summary of this dissertation. Chapter two explains how Huang Biyun created her different writing styles. Chapter three analyzes her styles of fiction writings in three stages by time. Chapter four points out the diversity of language usage in Huang’s fictions, aim at showing her sensitivity of language usage, and her talented writing skills. Chapter five lists out the crucial vocabularies from Huang’s fictions, and try to explain how she uses those words in order to create her own astonishing language style. Conclusion comes to chapter six, pointing out that language usage in her fictional writing is the most influential component to lead her success in the Hong Kong literature field. Last but not least, bibliography comes to the end.
