Abstract(Figure Presented) Cubanes and beyond: Diversity and originality characterize the Ni complexes obtained from sodium (pyridine-2-yl)methanolate. The ligand/metal ratio and the presence of Na+ are key parameters to explain the formation of Ni4Na3, Ni6Na, or Ni7 polynuclear complexes with magnetically interacting centers. Such observations are relevant to the possible in situ formation of unexpected and possibly overlooked active species in catalytic reactions. © 2010 WIley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
