| Abstract | Jingyi Shuwen marks the highest accomplishment of Wang Niansun (1744-1832) and his son Wang Yinzhi(1766-1834) of Gaoyou (in modern Jiangsu province), both representatives of the Qianlong-Jiaqing intellectual school and philology experts. The book is, however, not free from errors in etymological, phonological and syntactic analyses. This essay focuses on some examples taken from the chapter 'Chunqiu Mingzi Jiegu', which discussed the relationship between given names and another names taken at the age of twenty appeared in Chunqiu. |
