| Abstract | 1607 年, 意大利耶穌會傳教士利瑪竇(Matteo Ricci) 和明朝大學士徐光啟合作, 完成歐幾里得(Euclid) 的《原本》(Elements)2之首六卷的翻譯, 並冠以書名《幾何原本》。本文旨在檢視《原本》成為第一本翻譯成中文的西方數學書籍的歷史背景, 並且探討當時譯本受重視的程度, 以及譯本在面世後至二十世紀初段在各方面產生的影響。這本在明朝傳入的第一本西方數學書籍掀起了西方科學傳入中國的第一波浪潮, 第二波和第三波要等到清朝才出現, 但每次出現都有不同的歷史背景及特色。除了對傳統東西方研究數學的方式和重點作比較,我們還希望在更廣泛的學術和文化方面檢視這個議題。 |
