AbstractThe Phyllachora shiraiana complex is a group of weak pathogens on the bambusoid genera Arundinaria: Bambusa. Sasa and Schizostachyum; until now this group has not been reported in Australia. In this paper we provide the first record of this complex on the endemic bamboo, Bambusa arnhemica, from Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. Australian collections of this fungus are described and illustrated, and are compared with twelve other Phyllachora species that have been previously described on bamboo.
