| Abstract | The present invention is related to the use of neuronal pannexins for the manufacture of drugs for preventing and/or treating neurological disorders, particularly neurological disorders involving hippocampal pyramidal cells in mammals. Moreover, the invention concerns the use of pannexins for in vitro diagnosing such neurological disorders. The present invention is also directed to methods for selecting, in vitro or in vivo using an, animal model, compounds useful for preventing and/or treating, in mammals, neurological disorders by modifying the channel-forming ability o~ pannexins. |
