AbstractThe article discusses the commissioning of tapestries from France by the court of King Charles XI of Sweden. The tapestries, which depict a series of battles fought by Charles XI in the mid-1670s, were created by the French royal weavers Philippe Béhagle and Dominique Delacroix. The roles played by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger and the diplomat Daniel Cronström in the commissioning of the tapestries is also discussed.
