AbstractThe creation of sustainable competitive advantage through internetworked communities is discussed. The effects of transforming the Hong Kong stock exchange from a closed to an open trading system is examined. The links in internetworked communities are not defined by the functions they enable, but rather by the relationships with suppliers, employees, customers, or partners. Internetworked enterprises are entirely dependent on information to organize and regulate their internal processes and activities and to facilitate and solidify their external relationships.
