Abstract1. 1. One single pyruvate kinase isozyme was detected in dog muscle and purified to homogeneity by a 3-step process. 2. 2. The enzyme has four identical subunits having molecular weights of 69.900. 3. 3. This isozyme possesses different electrophoretic mobility from that of the rat M 1 isozyme in that it is more cathodic at pH 7.5. 4. 4. Its kinetic characteristics resemble those of the rat muscle enzyme. 5. 5. No immunological similarity was observed between the rat and dog muscle pyruvate kinases. © 1981.
