AbstractThe effects of strong correlation on angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) are studied in the framework of linear-response theory with random phase approximation for the dynamic spin susceptibility. Our theoretical results are also able to account for the large background, the nonsum rule, and the temperature dependence of peak/dip/hump structure observed experimentally in the ARPES of high-T c superconductors. In particular, we investigate the effects of nonmagnetic Zn impurities on the ARPES line shapes. The disappearance of the peak/dip/hump feature shown in the recent experiments can be explained in a natural way. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
