AbstractBL-5111-A, 4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-[4-(5-methylthio-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-carbonyl)-piperazin-1-yl] quinazoline hydrochloride, is a novel alpha-adrenolytic drug with antihypertensive properties in the intact animal. In the present study, the alpha-adrenolytic properties of BL-5111-A were compared with those of phentolamine and prazosin, using cutaneous veins of the dog as a model of adrenergically innervated vascular smooth muscle.
