AbstractA latest tool called Q trap was developed for proteomic research based on a quadrupole ion path with ion trap capabilities. The Q trap is a instrument that allows to perform high sensitivity experiments in different scan modes, including enhanced product ion scan, MS/MS/MS, time delayed fragmentation and enhanced multiply charged scans. The time-delayed fragmentation (TDF) mode of the instrument allows possibility to distinguish between product ions created with different dissociation rates. The TDF mode also allows to detect simplified spectra resulting in easily interpreted data that could be searched with greater accuracy.
