AbstractSeveral sorbents were tested as the coating material for the construction of a water-sensitive piezoelectric crystal detector. Gelatin was found to be the most suitable. Detectors coated with various amounts of gelatin (35-150 μg) were prepared and their performance characteristics studied. The only interferences found were from volatile alcohols and formic acid. The detectors were used to determine the water content in many gaseous samples. The reliability of the method was ascertained by comparing the results with those obtained by absorption-gravimetry and by a commercially available moisture analyzer. © 1982.
