AbstractReaction of dpnapy [dpnapy = 7-diphenylphosphino-2,4-dimethyl-1,8-naphthyridine] with [Au(tht)Cl] (tht = tetrahydrothiophene) in dichloromethane afforded [Au(dpnapy) 3] +, which shows a strong affinity towards Cu I and Cd II ions; crystal structures of [AuCu(dpnapy) 3][ClO 4] 2 and [AuCd(dpnapy) 3][ClO 4] 3 revealed that [Au(dpnapy) 3] + functions as a metalloligand with the three naphthyridyl groups positioned in a trigonal fashion.
