AbstractLuminescent erbium-doped yttria powders were directly synthesized from commercially available colloidal yttria preformed sols, after heating at temperatures up to 1200°C. The materials characterization and luminescence properties are described. Differences with analogous preparations employing preformed alumina sols are mentioned.
