Abstract | trans-[RuV(tmc)(O)2]ClO4 (tmc=1,4,8,11-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradecane) has been generated by electrochemical reduction of trans-[RuVI(tmc)(O) 2](ClO4)2 in acetonitrile; it is paramagnetic (μeff.=1.98 μB) and rapidly disproportionates into trans-[RuVI(tmc)(O)2]2+ and trans-[Ru IV(tmc)(O)(OH2)]2+ upon dissolution in aqueous acidic solution. |
