Weijen Wang s Xixi project (2011) is conceived as a series of architectural viewing apparatuses that reproduce landscape viewing experiences in which mountain, water, sky and earth are gathered in differing permutations. Fusing allusions to classical Chinese aesthetic treatises and film editing techniques as an extension of the static, analytical gaze of Western perspective, Wang's architecture reinterprets the wetland landscape to evoke new spatial possibilities from visual perception to emotional and intellectual understanding.
