AbstractThe Michigan splint is an occlusal appliance for patients with functional disturbances of the gnathic system. It helps to stabilize, reposition and to equilibrate and is a means of diagnosis and therapy. Form and function of the splint are described along with its construction. Special attention is given to the incorporation and the checking appointments with the patient. The splint helps to relax the masticatory musculature. Thereby the madibular recording is facilitated. It helps to make a correct functional analysis and to induce a proper occlusal therapy.
