AbstractThe improvement mechanism of soft soil by the method of vacuum preloading and the Chinese contributions to this technology are introduced in this paper. A semi-analytical method is proposed for computation of consolidation of sand drain foundations under vacuum preloading. A simplified method for design of such foundations is also presented. © 1992.
