AbstractThe free vibration analysis of doubly curved shells is accomplished by the spline finite strip method. The method is quite general in that the shell surfaces can be of any shape but their boundaries have to be the co-ordinate lines: i.e., the principal curvature lines of the surfaces due to the strain-displacement formulations used in the present paper. Numerical examples of various shell surfaces are employed to demonstrate the accuracy and versatility of the method. © 1990.
