AbstractConjugated copolymers incorporated with phenylpyridylthienopyrazine units were synthesized by palladium catalyzed coupling reactions. The polymers exhibit prominent absorption band in the entire visible region due to the presence of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) transitions. The bandgap of the copolymers could be further reduced by the formation of polymer complexes with rhenium(I) pentacarbonyl chloride. The absorption spectra of the resulting polymers were further broadened and the bandgaps were reduced. The ICT transition bands exhibited significant red-shift ...
