The Experience of Teaching the Judges of the HKSAR Judiciary to Write their Judgments in Chinese

Abstract

Proficiency in Chinese language usually consists of the acquisition of the basic language capabilities as well as the application of these capabilities for special and professional usages.This paper attempts to prove that,through the experience of teaching the judges of the HKSAR Judiciary to write their judgments in Chinese,it would help to convert the basic language proficiency into the language proficiency in other special and professional usages if the basic language capabilities have been acquired. 中文語文能力指的是兩個方面:一是基本語文能力的培養,二是專門或專業中文的應用。本文借教授香港特區政府司法機構各級法官撰寫中文判詞的經驗,指出基本語文能力有了一定水平,是可以把這種能力轉化為專門或專業中文能力,并能在不同場合應用的。
