AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to discuss methodology for mapping quantitative trait loci (QTLs) in behavior genetics. Specifically, methods of linkage and association mapping of continuous and disease traits are presented, along with examples of their application. Variance components and regression based methods for analysis of continuous traits with be discussed. In addition, methods for dealing with complex disease data will also be presented. Practical considerations in genomewide association (GWA) studies will be discussed, through the presentation of a genomewide association study of a complex disease.
