A qualified professional town planner with over 35 years of urban planning, project implementation and design experience in both Singapore and Hong Kong. After graduation from University of Manchester, he was recruited by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) of Singapore to work on public housing management, estate redevelopment and new town master planning. Upon return to Hong Kong, he worked for the former Land Development Corporation (LDC) on urban renewal since its establishment in 1987 and then the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) until 2017 as Head of Planning and Design Division.
During the period, Mr Tang played a key role in completing a number of district renewal studies covering most of the older urban areas of Hong Kong including Yau Mong, Sham Shui Po, Hung Hom and Ma Tau Kok, Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Central and Western, Wan Chai, Sai, Sai Ying Pun, Shau Kei Wan and many redevelopment / revitalization projects such as The Center in Sheung Wan, Wan Chai Market, Tsuen Wan Vision City, Mong Kok Langham Place, K11 Hanoi Road and Kwun Tong Town Centre which is by far the largest urban redevelopment project undertaken in Hong Kong.
Over his professional career, Mr Tang has been actively engaged in the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) affairs and knowledge exchange at various tertiary education institutions.
