Dr Yimeng Song is an Assistant Professor in Urban Data Science in Department of Urban Planning and Design, Faculty of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong. His research leverages data-driven analytics and geoinformation science to investigate how environmental changes affect urban systems, social equity, and sustainability. Dr Song specializes in integrating multi-source big data fusion, spatio-temporal modeling, epidemiological methods, and GeoAI to deepen our understanding of dynamic urban environments and to address pressing challenges related to urban health and climate change.
His work aims to bridge theory and practice by developing innovative urban models that capture the complex interconnections between environmental factors, human health, and urban infrastructure. Prior to joining HKU, Dr Song was a Postdoctoral Associate in Professor Michelle L. Bell’s group at the Yale School of the Environment. He holds a PhD in Geography from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he focused on geospatial analysis of human-environment interactions.
Dr Song has published extensively in leading journals in geoinformation science, urban planning, environmental science, and public health. His research is widely cited and recognized in these fields. He was named among the Top 2% of Scientists in the World by Stanford University and Elsevier in both 2023 and 2024.
