Dr Zhao is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Prior to this, she was a Post-doctoral Fellow in the same department and an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Geography at HKU. She received her PhD from HKU and was awarded the HKU Foundation Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Students. She also obtained a Master’s degree in Real Estate from HKU and a Bachelor’s degree in Land Management from Zhejiang University.
Dr. Zhao’s previous research has mainly focused on travelers’ behaviors in on-demand service markets and has examined the broader impacts of these emerging services on land use and urban systems. Based on insights derived from these studies, she also developed policy implications for policymakers and service operators to foster a more sustainable urban society. She is skilled in using quantitative models to analyze the effects of various built-environment and socioeconomic variables on the urban environment and human behavior. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Transportation Research Part A/D, Transport Policy, Travel Behaviour and Society, and Sustainable Cities and Society.
