Frederik Pretorius

 

Biography

Frederik Pretorius has been active in urban development for more than 35 years. His areas of interest are varied and include real estate investment and finance; project economics and project and infrastructure investment and finance; urban and regional economics and development; real options analysis; housing economics and finance; and the economics of land and real estate leases. He has experience in Hong Kong, Australia and South Africa as academic, consultant, as executive in the corporate sector and as professional surveyor, in various activities and industries including regional economic development, commercial real estate development, building, infrastructure finance, and civil and mining engineering projects. He has authored/co-authored/presented some 160 technical and academic papers, including three books, and has conducted/participated in over 70 commercial, professional and executive assignments. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Asian Institute of International Law at the University of Hong Kong, and Adjunct Professor, Urban Finance, Urban and Regional Economics at The University of Canberra. Dr. Pretorius holds a Ph.D. in Real Estate Finance from the University of Hong Kong and MBA and BSc. degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
